Ten Winery Clients, One Month-End

By Compliance Vine® · · 2 min read

Your clients do not send you a month in one shape. One exports from Commerce7, another from Shopify, and another sends a spreadsheet with familiar numbers under unfamiliar column headings. Each arrives at a different time, with a deadline attached.

Before you can apply your judgment, you have to assemble the records. That repeated preparation grows with every winery you add.

Give experienced people time for experienced work

Your clients rely on you to interpret requirements, resolve exceptions and know when a number needs another look. Import cleanup and repeated formatting can crowd out that work.

A more consistent starting point helps. When a tax setting changes or an export is incomplete, you want to trace the difference, explain it to the client and document the decision. Having the relevant records together makes that review easier to organize.

A separate workspace for each winery

Compliance Vine® Consultant Edition gives each winery its own workspace and reporting context. Supported integrations and file imports bring the client's transactions into a consistent format. Depending on the source, that may be a connection or an export; the input needs to be checked before you rely on the output.

The reporting workflow standardizes records and flags issues such as missing information, destination restrictions and quantity exceptions. You review the exceptions and prepare the relevant reports from that organized data.

Separate workspaces help preserve each client's settings and records while you manage a larger book of business. Report generation is unlimited, so you can rerun a report after correcting an input without a per-report fee.

Keep review and responsibility visible

Software supports your work; the engagement still defines the winery's responsibilities, your responsibilities and who approves or submits each filing. Agree on how late data, corrections and missing information will be handled.

The desktop application prepares reporting outputs and supports assisted filing workflows. A person reviews the return and completes submission. A prepared report is a useful starting point for that review, not a substitute for it.

Your client relationship stays central

Our approach is to support the consultant already working with the winery. Setup help and defined services can sit alongside your advisory work, with the scope and communication agreed together.

The first demonstration should reflect how you operate. Start with a representative client's reporting period, then look at how another client's different system or requirements would be handled. Agree on any data to share and the comparison scope before the detailed review.
